This is SOOOO COOOL!  JFB, author of Apophysis-J has written a script that writes scripts.  It will generate a script based on the current flame.  This is something that I *really* wish Apophysis would incorporate.  Once the script is created, you can edit it and comment out particular parts or add randomness to it and you have a wonderful script!  You can download it at (apophysis-j.deviantart.com/art… also uploaded a few other new scripts there.  And if you haven't downloaded the latest version of Apo-J, version 1.8 has been released.

I cant wait to get the script as i am trying to teach myself from various tutorials (yours included) i see it as another tool or aid for me to learn from and hopefully eventually be able to write scripts as good as yours.

I see the script as a automation of the tutorial that I wrote. I think that when you go through the tutorial and understand the process, there is nothing wrong with automating the process. Yet you would have thought that I was endorsing something horrible for the world of fractals to listen to some of the response that this has gotten on the Apophysis list. It totally baffles me.

At first I thought wow too but then I started to worry that fractal galleries might start to become very very boring. It might kill people creativity.
I am curious about what will happen.

Unless someone goes in and modifies the script to do additional things or random things, then all it does is produce the same flame over and over and over. They may as well release the parameters. Does people releasing flame packs kill creativity? I don't see that happening. Looking at other people's parameters are a teaching tool. What I see is this script automating what my tutorial teaches. It creates a template that can be edited and JFB provided me with a regular version of the script that does the same thing as the Java version. I'm going to post it. But it is going to be like my tutorial. It is a teaching tool, not a piece of art by itself. I think it will cause people to read their script and attempt to modify it. Since it is "their" script, they aren't going to be as hesitant to figure it out or modify it. That is a good thing. The less Apo artists are afraid of when it comes to Apo and it's abilities, the better artists they are going to become.

My mind is twisted about this. When I first read about it I thought Wow! The second thought was: endlessly multiplied images are boring. I guess I have to wait and see which reaction will prevail. I have to run it to see what you mean by teaching tool.

Will this program also work on Windows, or is it just for MAC and Linux?
