  • Mood: Wow!
  • Playing: Incendia AGAIN!!!!
While I don't know what caused Incendia to stop working, I think I figured out a work-around.  I was able to get Incendia to run again if I un-installed it and re-installed it in a never-before-used folder.  I had used both c:program filesIncendia and c:Incendia on both machines before and re-installing it in either of those locations would not work at all.  I got it working again on both my XP P1 desktop and my Vista Ultimate laptop by installing it in c:INCENDIous.  :)

Hi!

Someone has suggested you might be able to advise me about a problem with Apo.
Can I ask you something, please? It depends on whether you know Macs.

I have had an iMac since last winter.
I have VMware on it to be able to have Windows and use Apo.
Recently I added a lot of memory. I now have 2GB for the Windows part of the computer.

Despite all this Apo will not render properly. I've reinstalled it several times.
I stops rendering just before the end, I can't cancel the render and have to log out of Windows to get rid of it.
It will only render a few .jpgs at 1000 but usually only at 500, and no .pngs or transparencies.

I have a friend *Pharmagician who uses the Boot Camp function of the Mac and can use Apo normally.
Another friend =Colliemom has bought Parallels. I'm tempted to do the same.

I've asked `cmptrwhz but his Mac is old. He couldn't help me much other than suggest it came from VMWare.

I think it would be stupid to buy many more things if it turns out to be useless.
Please have you any idea what could be the problem? As I said, if you are not familiar with Macs I don't suppose you would know. Still is it a problem with Mac? I think it is VMWare.

I'll add that I am not very familiar with IT as I'm 67, and only started using a computer less than five years ago.

In any case thank you for reading this. I'm sorry to bother you.

Sue. :)

You are no bother. And I'm not much help. LOL I don't know macs. I've run Apo under Linux before, but never Macs. I'd suggest that you go to apophysis.org and get the link to the Apophysis mailing list ([link]). I think some of the folks on it use Macs and they may be able to help you.

If I had the energy, I'd dance a jig with you! LOL Since I've discovered this, I have had the program running 24/7 on both machines and don't shut it down. I was *so* glad to get it back. I'll plan on leaving them running until the next release.

Oh..:crying:
Let me finish the move to the new room (and to find money for the next week!), as for Incendia..well..is a beta..betas are spected to fail (no trial..is just a humble beta).
next version just doesn't use any file at all, so Vista and their marvellous file handling routines will not harm me anymore...

Will it be a "portable" application in that it will work off of a USB drive or something?
