My disability check that was promised on Monday did not show up today.  After a phone call to Sedgwick, I was told that since they had not sent me my letter detailing my avenues of appeal, that they were going to pay me this month.  But, in their total incompetence, they did not submit the authorization until after some AT&T cut-off and the check did not go out.  AT&T will allegedly wait another month before cutting the check.  I explained to them that by the time I get documentation telling me what I can do to appeal this that I won't have the income and medical insurance to even get them the requested documentation.  They replied that they are not responsible for me not getting medical documentation.  I told them that it wasn't someone else that canceled my benefits and all I got was a "well that's your opinion".  I asked them to then explain where I was wrong and was told that they would not argue with me over it.  Ultimately, the whole exchange was orchestrated to avoid telling me how I was supposed to get the necessary monthly documentation to them with no income or medical insurance.  They told me that they would be sending out the letter documenting my rights to appeal to me next week.  I told them that it took a full 30 days just to get a referral to see a Cardiologist from the HMO and they should at least keep my benefits active until after the appointment, but was told that the customer service rep that indicated this possibility on Monday wasn't a case worker and couldn't make those kinds of statements or promises.  At this point, I can't even think.  My eyes are so blurry that I can't even read this without squinting and I have tunnel vision and chest pains.  My entire head is numb - even my tongue.  I'm tired of their unwillingness to tell me what will meet their satisfaction and having different people tell me opposing information.  I'm contacting a lawyer.  I have no way to buy groceries, much less hire a lawyer, but maybe he'll make a call or send a letter on my behalf.

My advice to you is to find the nearest legal aid service. The insurance company is only going to try to find ways of not paying. I know what you’re going through; I have been living with Lupus since `99. My faith, family and friends were my inspiration.
