  • Mood: Frustrated
My disability check that was promised on Monday did not show up today.  After a phone call to Sedgwick, I was told that since they had not sent me my letter detailing my avenues of appeal, that they were going to pay me this month.  But, in their total incompetence, they did not submit the authorization until after some AT&T cut-off and the check did not go out.  AT&T will allegedly wait another month before cutting the check.  I explained to them that by the time I get documentation telling me what I can do to appeal this that I won't have the income and medical insurance to even get them the requested documentation.  They replied that they are not responsible for me not getting medical documentation.  I told them that it wasn't someone else that canceled my benefits and all I got was a "well that's your opinion".  I asked them to then explain where I was wrong and was told that they would not argue with me over it.  Ultimately, the whole exchange was orchestrated to avoid telling me how I was supposed to get the necessary monthly documentation to them with no income or medical insurance.  They told me that they would be sending out the letter documenting my rights to appeal to me next week.  I told them that it took a full 30 days just to get a referral to see a Cardiologist from the HMO and they should at least keep my benefits active until after the appointment, but was told that the customer service rep that indicated this possibility on Monday wasn't a case worker and couldn't make those kinds of statements or promises.  At this point, I can't even think.  My eyes are so blurry that I can't even read this without squinting and I have tunnel vision and chest pains.  My entire head is numb - even my tongue.  I'm tired of their unwillingness to tell me what will meet their satisfaction and having different people tell me opposing information.  I'm contacting a lawyer.  I have no way to buy groceries, much less hire a lawyer, but maybe he'll make a call or send a letter on my behalf.

My advice to you is to find the nearest legal aid service. The insurance company is only going to try to find ways of not paying. I know what you’re going through; I have been living with Lupus since `99. My faith, family and friends were my inspiration.

I am sorry Daniel that you are faced with so many obstacles to get your money. This sucks big time. I understand. Hopefully you get a good lawyer who is capable to speed things up.

I'm so sorry Daniel. I know that does not help much, but my prayers are with you, my friend.

Very sorry to hear you are in trouble Daniel. I wish I could do something to help. Do try to keep your spirits up somehow.

People used to say to me that there was light at the end of the tunnel and that the only way was up, however my tunnel was sloping downwards with no light at all.

Eventually I dragged myself kicking and screaming out of the bloody tunnel completely and swore I would never go back. (it was actually a Day Center Hospital and my life style)

My health improved tremendously and my life did too.

My grandmother used to say 'count your blessings' when I was a child. I thought 'blessings' were something you could see and touch, like sweets. Now I know what they are, they are all the things we have around us, our children, all God's wonders, our lives.

I will be thinking of you and really hope things turn around for you very soon.

Words of encouragement seem like a mockery at this point by now, Daniel. But there is one person who will never fail you. And I'm sure you know who that is. He provides for his Children.

Thanks. Sometimes it takes us coming to the place were He is all we have to find that He is all we need. Doesn't make the experience a pleasant one though when you are in the midst of it.

I know what you mean man. Just... well... give it to Him. It's all we can do.

I sincerely hope that all this mess gets sorted out, and to YOUR benefit, Daniel. Why do people with difficulties always have to deal with some faceless, uncaring bureaucrat?!

Rhetorical question.....don't dignify it with a reply!

I'm sorry Daniel. I just don't know what to say. I have never been faced with anything like this, so I can't imagine what you must be going through.
