group. I like the idea. Things need to get better. I don't see this as a real solution though. First, I don't see anything that says that this fractal resource group will be limited to Apophysis. If it is not, won't it get confusing pretty fast? DA could easily do something like this new group if they allowed specific categories for Apophysis scripts, Apophysis gradients, Apophysis tutorials, Apophysis flame packs, and so forth. But there isn't a single category where this kind of stuff is consolidated, and what categories do exist often get spammed with images themselves posted as "stock" as opposed to putting them in the stock category. The whole DA category structure needs to be redone. We currently have at least three different categories that I know of where I can find scripts, tutorials, gradients, packs, and images/"stock" all mixed up together, and some of these categories aren't limited to Apophysis. It's a mess. Until we can properly categorize our resources, there is no real way to filter the favs over at the new Fractal-Resources group to find what you are looking for because unlike galleries, favs don't allow folders...and if we had proper categories, we wouldn't need this resource group to try to overcome the deficiencies of the DA category system. Don't get me wrong. It's going to help, especially if it is limited to Apophysis. But I don't see it as fixing the underlying problem. Instead of having the same content spread over three or four categories and having a separate group set up to try to collect and organize it, we need to get DA to set up three or four specific categories. Just had one of those OH CRAP! moments. I intended to delete all the files in my folder with "par" as part of the name. Worked great...except it also deleted my PARAMETER folder with all my M3D thumbnails and parameters! Luckily, everything through yesterday was backed up, and I've posted the 15 or 18 missing parameters on Google Plus. So I can get them back, but it sure would be nice to have batch M3P -> TXT and batch TXT -> M3P capability. So happy that I've been sharing all my parameters on G+ though. Not only does it allow others to play with them, but really saves my bacon when I do something uber dumb! LOL

It's been a crazy year and I haven't been around for a while. Moved into a new place and got it all set up, got both of my kids through high school, and stayed real busy as the head moderator over on Theologica (theologica.ning.com). Haven't done fractals in a long, long time. Then, last Sunday, an online friend posted something from Mandelbulb 3D. Blew me away and I had to check it out. And in the last five nights, I've been up past 5am on four of them - partly because of insomnia and partly because I was so lost in M3D that I couldn't find my way back home. :) I've been busy though. My ordeal may be coming to an end
If you have followed my journal for the last three years, you know about my fight with an insurance company that used my computer's ability to render fractals as some justification that I was not disabled. They have now agreed, however, to arbitration in the case. It is scheduled for next Tuesday. It is going to be an all day ordeal and I will be spending it between my wheelchair and a reclining camp chair that I am going to have to bring myself.
My ordeal with my insurance company may go away next week....but so may all information I have posted about what they have put me through. If you want to see/archive it before it is possibly gone
An Easy Explanation of Fractals
Just posted a short web page explaining fractals for all those that have asked me the question over the years. You can read it at this (http://bit.ly/FractalTutorial). I tried to use non-technical language as if I were going to be teaching this to home-school kids or something. If you haven't seen the videos I link to there though, you should really check them out.

I would just be happy if fractal 'stock' was in it's own category and not cluttering up 'resources'. Yes stock is a resouce, but it needs it's own section. It would be far easier to trudge through the scripts and gradients lol. But I do LOVE the idea of sections, though I agree with Tom. If we do it for Apophysis, we ought to do it for all fractals programs. It can be done, and it would be nice. But it would depend on what DA was willing to do lol.
